A DEEP SUMMARY ON.... PRAISE AND WORSHIP....(12)

Being my first sermon of the year and the last in a series of A  Deep Summary session on Praise and Worship, I am grateful to God for taking us through this journey as we have been exploring some truths and facts about praise and worship.

Today we are going to see the role of music in praise and worship. Personally, I love music, the whole issue of singing and playing musical instruments!
I remember when I was a child, I was shy if not afraid of singing in front of people. I was in a Sunday School Choir but in really sense it was just because I could not quit, being a child I had to listen to my elders and be in the choir.
As I was growing, I met different people who did so much with music and I was inspired and since then, I knew that God has put some music in me.

There are different kinds of songs and music that people sing. Let us see how does music relate to praise and worship. First of all, the bible encourages us to praise God with musical instruments. If you read from the book of Psalms 150, there are different instruments mentioned which can be used to praise God. You can play instruments with a heart of worship, with a heart of praise.

We also read from Psalms 27:6 "Then my head will be exalted
above the enemies who surround me;
at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy;
I will sing and make music to the Lord.NIV
The Psalmist plans to sing and make music to the Lord as a way of giving Him praise!

One thing to remember is that, the relationship the musician has with God is more important than the music itself. Being an important sector, even David put special people (1 Chronicles 6:31-32 "These are the men David put in charge of the music in the house of the Lord after the ark came to rest there. 32 They ministered with music before the tabernacle, the Tent of Meeting, until Solomon built the temple of the Lord in Jerusalem. They performed their duties according to the regulations laid down for them. "
NIV)

We have seen the meaning and so much explanation on praise and worship in the previous lessons, all that can be put in music.
A few things to keep in mind

  • Spiritual music comes from spiritual people.
  • It is a good thing to seek standards in music but remember your heart sings louder than your mouth so be careful of what it fills your heart.
  • We can use music as a vessel to carry the praise and the worship from our hearts.
  • The tempo of the music does not specify whether we are praising or worshiping.
I give all the glory and honor to God Almighty! God bless you so much with all the blessings both physically and spiritually...!!!

                                       THE END!
